The Barrwood comprises 96 acres of which 75% is suitable for a range of camping options. The remainder of the site is given over to mixed forestry. During the Summer Season, 1st April to the 31st October, there is normally a weekend duty warden. During the off season, the water is turned off and the site is designated greenfield. The self-composting toilets remain open throughout the year. The site is not available for public camping.

We have moved, welcome - To our new address: barrwood.org.uk we feel this better describes our function as an organisation not a company. Along with the move some changes have been made to the system. You will be able to book your visits using an on line calendar. All activity bookings will be made via a drop down calendar in the same way as archery and tomahawk are currently done. This will allow you see what sessions are already booked and free times and dates available.
Pricing - The Trust has reviewed its pricing policy. This has resulted in price increases which will take effect from the 1st January 2027. Please see individual activities for costs.
2027 bookings - Booking for the 2027 season now open. Please note we only accept non Forth Region bookings from May to September.
Trust Chair - The Trust is pleased to announce that Gordon Samson, former Chair of Forth Regional Scout Council has agreed to Chair the Trust. We welcome Gordon to the post.
Forestry road - the forestry road remains closed to normal traffic. Although work has been carried out to improve the road surface it is felt that "normal" traffic should not resume until the Spring
Toilets - It is especially important that the young people are instructed in the proper use of the composting toilets, in particular to put the lids down and that nothing apart from human waste and toilet paper is deposited therein. Any foreign materials interferes with the composting process.
Defibrillator is in place on west side of the barn. Access code for the cabinet is provided by Emergency Services when called.
Dogs are not permitted on site, with the exception of assistance dogs, during Scouting Activities. This is to ensure anyone with allergies or who are anxious of dogs can feel safe visiting the Barrwood. Please help us adhere to the policy by informing parents & guardians collecting young people.

Our Campsite
As well as a range of camping opportunities we have a number of on site facilities. The barn is a large indoor space suitable for a number of activities, it has a scrambling wall and toilet facilities and provides shelter in inclement weather. Other facilities include a caving complex, play area, obstacle course, campfire circle, bivouac, wayfaring course and nature trail.
In addition a former reservoir on site which is designated class "C" waters offers opportunities for kayaking, paddle boarding and rafting.
OUR FACILITIES
The Barrwood offers opportunities for traditional scout camping on open fires. It offers a range of activies with which the leaders can engage in with their scouts.
